This is the last quilt finished here in Okinawa and the first quilt of 2010!
I didn't measure it before the movers packed it, but I think it is about 50x65".
I raided my scrap bin for vintage looking fabrics for all of the star pieces.
I love the
wrinkles of heavy top quilting so I did an all over free motion design except for the stars which I left plain.
Some close ups of my 2 favorite fabrics in this quilt.
*LOVE IT*! It's a really beautiful quilt and I'm a little jealous!
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing the free motion up-close. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is beautiful!! What patience you have. To answer your question, I use white denim almost ALL of the time. I don't know if you're still in Japan. But Hancock has a thick one called "Bull Denim" that seems to cover most other fabrics... it's 7.99 per yard. I'm on the mailing list so I use my 40% coupon. I used to lay it over the dark piece to see if it would cover it and get a little nervous. But I finally figured out that when the whole thing is finished, you really don't notice a little shading underneath the white. Once I covered a dark red chair with big flowers. It did perfect!
ReplyDeleteHobby Lobby has a 40% coupon every week you can download. I buy a bolt of their white denim at a time with that. Reg. 7.99 per yard. It seems to be a little thinner though. They'll order as many as you want. But it still covers and looks beautiful after it's pre washed. (always do that first with any slip).
I sure hope this helps. If you don't have access to these stores, just find white denim anywhere. The 10 oz canvas seem to be a little stiff and wrinkles easly, but I read where one girl gets the white duck cloth from Walmart for 5 something per yard. I've seen it, and think it would work really good to. Ours just don't sell fabric anymore.
Well, let me know how it goes!
