Clover Cafe

I went out to breakfast Japanese/American style with friends on Saturday morning. We went to a great new place on the island called Clover. As you can see there are beautiful gardens on the walk up to the cafe.

Christa and I waiting for the food!
I got so excited when the food came that I forgot to take a picture of it. I love how beautiful the Japanese present food. We had a side salad (my first time for breakfast), two fat pancakes, a slice of apple, orange juice and tea. The remarkable thing was that it only came to Y600. Around here that is amazing. It is about $6.70 at the current rate.

Owl Quilt Update

The colors look terrible in these pictures since I was trying to take them in low lighting.

some of the squares sewn together

Showing some of the squares side by side. I am thinking this quilt may look better with white sash fabric.

Owl Quilt

I decided to make a quilt after seeing all the cute quilts my friend has been making. I found some great fabric that is vibrant as well as whimsical. So far I have part of the pieces cut out and will soon start assembling the blocks.

Farmer's Market

Today my friend Christa and I went to a local farmers market. The place is lovely because it is indoors and climate controlled. The most beautiful local produce is sold at this market. I need to take a Japanese speaking person with me so I can find out what everything is. I've never seen so many different types of leafy greens and root vegetables. I love this place!

Flowers are incredibly cheap, you can buy a a bunch of daisy mums for $1.00, I bought cherry blossom branches today. I got 3 branches for about $1.00!

It was Christa's first time and she loved it!

Packing up bean sprouts. You can cram as much as you want into the bag (this is sometimes interesting to watch) for a little over $1.00

I'm not sure what these are, but they are really big!

These are called Daikon and are a large radish. They have a very mild taste.

My cherry blossoms arranged at home. I love Cherry blossom time of the year in Okinawa.
